In March 2019, UAB Biosyyd and the Lithuanian Business Support Agency have signed a Research & Development funding agreement (co-financed by the European Union Structural Funds) which was successfully completed in June 2022. The European Regional Development Fund financing amount EUR 534.175,15.
While implementing the project "Creation of Innovative Functional Industrial Hemp Biorefining Products, Wasteless Technologies of their Production and R&D Infrastructure", the company seeks to carry out R&D activities and to develop and commercialize new (on a global scale) industrial hemp biorefining products and their production technologies:
product of lipophilic micro-components of industrial hemp seed;
different concentrations of hemp seed proteins (isolates);
hemp seed fibre;
products of phytocannabinoids and essential oil combinations with different concentrations;
lipophilic fractionation technology;
production of hemp seed protein isolates and;
production technology for the concentration of hemp leaf and inflorescence extracts and distillates with different concentrations of phytocannabinoids and essential oil compounds.
New products and technologies will be developed by researchers of UAB Biosyyd in close cooperation with the scientists of Food Science and Technology Competence Centre of Kaunas University of Technology, which will ensure a high level of scientific and research work as well as the efficient solution of arising problems based on a comprehensive and up-to-date scientific research and information.
During the implementation of the project, the company will develop its R&D infrastructure and acquire equipment for superfine extraction; distillation and fractionation; vibration separation as well as equipment for the analytical laboratory. This equipment will also be used for further R&D activities of the company after the implementation of the project.
By implementing the project, Biosyyd will contribute to research and experimental, social & cultural development, as well as innovation development (especially smart specialization), while contributing to the specialized fields of “Agro-innovation and food technologies”:
Sustainable agrobiological resources and safer food;
Functional food;
Innovative development, improvement and processing of bio raw materials (biorefining).
Development and implementation of original product design solutions.
UAB Biosyyd started to implement in 2014–2020 European Union Funds Investment Operational Program Priority 3 “Promotion of Small and Medium Business Competitiveness” measure “Design LT” project “Development and implementation of original product design solutions for UAB Biosyyd”, co-financed by the European Union structural assistance and the company. The European Regional Development Fund financing amount EUR 8723,02.
UAB Biosyyd strives to create unique design solutions for its products. The main goal of the project "Development and implementation of original product design solutions for UAB Biosyyd" is the development and implementation of product design solutions manufactured in the company in order to increase the attractiveness of products, demand and the company's productivity. The main activity of the project is the development and implementation of original product design solutions. It is planned to develop and implement original product design solutions for the cosmetics and food line.
Promotion of international networking and involvement in R&D partnership networks
UAB Biosyyd implements this project aimed at promoting participation of SMEs in international R&D initiatives. During the project, Biosyyd will participate in events that present the latest achievements in the sectors of functional food and its ingredients, drug ingredients and food supplements (neutraceuticals), in order to join international R&D partnership networks. The project is co-financed by the European Union structural assistance and the company. The EU financing amount is EUR 16700.
